Buy this book! Everyone can relate to the sweet story of Owen and his favorite blanket Fuzzy. Hooray for Owen's Mom who comes up with a creative solution to an age old dilemma. Delightful illustrations. This will be a favorite at bedtime.

Owen is one of my favorite characters of all times...probably because like Owen, I was very attached to my blanket. How I wish this book had been published when I was a child! As usual, Kevin Henkes' story is charmingly written and illustrated. There is a lot of humor, plenty of which will make parents laugh as hard as(or harder than) their children.

When Owen's busybody neighbor, Mrs. Tweezers, convinces Owen's parents that he's too old to carry around his beloved, yet tattered, blanket, his parents begin a campaign to separate Owen and the blanket. Little do they know the lengths to which Owen will go to protect his blanket. Owen's Mom comes up with a solution that makes everybody happy, even that annoying busybody Mrs. Tweezers! Owen is a spunky, loveable little guy!

Henkes is my favorite children's author. I especially like Owen because so many kids do have a little "comfy" that they depend on and would just hate to give up. My son carries around a stuff blue turtle everywhere. The pictures are wonderful. Henkes can show expressions and emotions in the most minute way (like widening the eyes to show fear or surprise). The characters are precious. If you have a little one with a favorite blanket or stuff toy, this would be a great book to read out loud to them.

Mattimeo is the longest and best book in Brian Jacques series. Matthias the Warrior's son has been kidnapped by a slave band and marched into the far south, with Mattias, and a host of new and old friends, hot on the trail. Meanwhile, Redwall is under attack from a small army of black birds. While Matthias must deal with the largest vermin horde to date, the fierce and funny woodland creatures of Redwall must defend their Abbey from arial invaders. Using high adventure, and great recipes for excellent feasts, Jacques creates a wonderful journey, culminating in the greatest good vs. evil battle I've ever read. Despite the heavy odds against them, the fearless Redwallers always manage to win out in the end. A great book, that I've had the privilege to read more than thirty times (No joke.)

I read Mattimeo by Brian Jacques. This anthropomorphic story was about a fox, who is a kidnapper, and he kidnapped some little animals, including the warrior of Redwall's son. He made them into slaves, and took them to a place called Malkariss, and set them to work on a statue. Meanwhile, some rescuers from Redwall come to rescue them and are successful. At Redwall, some birds attack the Redwallers, but they are beaten back. Then the rescuers return. One is the hero of the story, the warrior of Redwall, Matthias. Everyone at Redwall has a big feast and everyone exchanges tales.
I recommend this book for anyone who likes fast-paced, exciting, and suspensful books, like in the part where Matthias and his friends are fighting all of the rats.
I thought Matthias was cool because he used a sword, unlike his five friends, and with them, defeated seven hundred rats.

For those who have read Redwall, this book will be all the better for you.Being reunited with your old friends gives you unsurrpressed joy, and seeing them with their children fills you with a sence of great pride. ( Though seeing the animals who were quite young in the previous book having children was quite awkward at first )This story is exellent and I rate it accordingly.
Few things can happen to Redwall that is worst than this. First, The young ones are stolen from the Abbey, And when Matthias, Jess and Basil, along with some new found friends, whose young ones have also been stolen, are gone, some other uninvited guests visit the Abbey. General Ironbeak and his birds from the Northlands invade Redwall, at the time when most of the fighting beasts are gone searching. I would tell you more but this book but it is very complicated and wonderful. Another story for the Faithful Redwallers who adore these books and Brian Jacques.

The Mouse And The Motorcycle is a book based on love and trust shown between a boy and a mouse. This mouse was not an ordinary mouse but was portrayed as one that could actually speak, and ride a motorcycle. Ralph who was the mouse and Keith who was the boy, really became good friends. The two really shared a lot, and really hated to part, when Keith's family had to leave the motel.

The book is about a mouse named Ralph, who finds a toy car- motorcycle. He tries to drive it, but he drives it right into the trash can! He is lucky when Keith, the boy who moved in and who is the owner of the toy car, comes and rescues him.

To Ralph's surprise, Keith is lonely and wants to be Ralph's friend. One night, when Keith is asleep, Ralph sneaks out of the room with the motorcycle. Ralph gets in trouble when the mean, old cat finds him and goes after him. But, Ralph gets lucky, and , of course, like usual, Keith comes to the rescue.

This is a great book about a curious mouse who likes lots of fun. I found this book much more interesting than most, and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I give it 2 1/2 thumbs up--way up! It is fun and interesting. If you like action and adventure, then you would just love this book. I know I do!

I believe that Beverly Cleary is the world's most important children's author. Even adults will read and enjoy Beverly Cleary's books. my personal favorite is The Mouse and the Motorcycle. It is about a mouse named Ralph. Ralph is a regular speed demon. He has a love for the thrill of speed. The Mouse and the Motorcycle teaches the values of keeping promises and honesty. Ralph is always breaking promises. Everytime he does, something happens that causes a big problem. The book teaches respect. When Ralph ignores his mother, something happens like falling in a wastepaper basket. In the story's conclusion, Ralph realizes all he wants is to be a respectable mouse. The Mouse and the Motorcycle is enjoyable for all audiences. Its fun and exciting plot makes it a good read-aloud story. A good example of this can be found on page 23. "There it was at the end-the motorcycle! Ralph stared at it and then walked over and kicked a tire. Close up the motorcycle looked even better than he expected. it was new and shiny with a good pair of tires. Ralph walked all the way around it, examining the pair of chromium mufflers and the engine and the hand clutch. It even had a little license plate so it would be legal to ride it. "Boy!" Ralph said to himself, his whiskers quivering with excitement. "Boy, oh Boy!"." Every boy and girl of any age would love this story! Comparing Beverly Cleary's books, I have discovered they should be rated first. The majority of children's books are aimed mainly to young girls while Beverly Cleary's books are enjoyed by girls and boys. Beverly Cleary's books promote good values unlike books such as Sideways Storys from Wayside School by Louis Sachar. The children in these stories do not respect their elders. Beverly Cleary's beleivable characters make her silly plots seem real. Louis Sachar's characters are not believable which make the plot just plain weird. The Mouse and the Motorcycle should be considered a children's classic.

Bobby Pendragon...a fourteen year-old boy with a normal life untill his uncle takes him away to a territory called Denduron. Press tells him he is a "traveler" and he must save Denduron from a terrible fate. But why him? He's fourteen. He doesn't even live on Denduron. Why should he help? If you would like to know, read the book! I would strongly recommend it. The action almost never stops, and Bobby is almost always in a life-threatening position. If you want to be in another state of mind and read through a book in one day, this book is for you. I give it a perfect five stars. I usually believe that a five star book is impossible, because no book can be perfect. This book isn't, but a measly four stars isn't enough! READ IT!!!!!!

Wow! this book was awesome. The plot was very original and it was really exciting and suspenseful. The author did a good job making the characters seem real, and the discriptions were great. I could picture everything perfectly.
This book was about a boy named Bobby Pendragon, who is swept off to a whole different territory called Denduron. Soon, he is caught up in an adventure before he really knows what is going on.
PLEASE READ THIS!...

I have to admit that I am a notorious critic... Though I can sometimes be harsh, I have to say that this book is fantastic. It is tied for my favorite series with a couple other series such as the Redwall series by Brian Jacques and the His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman. Now, about the book. Bobby Pendragon is a popular 14-year-old jock at his high school, until right before the county semi-finals for basketball, his Uncle Press tells Bobby that a group of people require his help. This is the start of a wild adventure with doors with stars that open flumes, quigs, an angry girl named Loor, Travelers, and tak. Be sure not to miss this incredible series by D. J. MacHale.

P.S. For those that have read it, isn't it amazing the amount of times that Bobby can call himself a weenie in just one book? ^_^

Do you like to read a good fantasy that has battles and skillful sword fighters in it? If so, this is the book for you. Martin the Warrior is a book about small animals. Martin and Rose are two of the main characters, and they are both mice. Martin had been enslaved by Badrang and escapes with some help from outsiders, but he is determined to free all of the slaves Badrang has and to get his father's sword back. Will he achieve his one and only goal or will he give up?
I really like this book. At first the story seems to drag but then it turns to very efficiently told. The main characters are so real and they all have different attitudes. At times the characters can be really funny. "Go to sleep, you filthy bunch. I'd like to lay you all out with a punch." Brian Jacques likes to play with language, at times I found it hard to understand, but once you get used to reading it you begin to understand what they are saying. Mostly it's just the moles talk weirdly, but there is also an Indian tribe talks diferently. The moles talk like this, "You'm a dreadful 'horrible crew an 'oi wuddent give to you." While the Indian tribe talks like this, "Squidjees playnow, youwatch plennygood!" At times this story seems to linger, but for the most part it carries itself until the high point! The author likes to give lots of details but not too many. "Primping the lace hems of her tunic..." The conflicts seem real, and they can relate back to the time when we had slaves. "Martin's head slumped onto his sodden chest as he recalled the day of his capture." At first you might be confused when Jacques moves on to another character, but you'll get the way he does it soon enough. The ending could be different, but it definitely ends the story. I think the story is just the right length. I was shocked but relieved when the story ended. If it had gone on it would have been a bore. I rate this book with 4 stars. I definitely think you should buy this book!

I've read all the Redwall books; several made me cry, but not like this one. I admit: I wept openly while reading it. It's not a particularily sad story, but Martin (who wuld later become Redwall's greatest hero) had a hard life. He was taken prisoner by Badrang the Tyrant and led away from his home on the northern shores at a young age. Once at Badrang's Palace, he was forced to work with other slaves, but his courage never failed him. Martin makes friends with Rose and Grumm, a mousemaid and a mole, who are one the outside of the palace and trying to rescue Rose's brother Brome, also a slave. An escape is planned for Martin, Brome and Felldoh (a squirrel), who are down in the prison pit as a punishment for their insolence. The manage to get free, but Martin and Rose are separated from Brome and Fellodoh at sea beacause their boat sunk. Both couples find much adventure anbd new friends as they try to raise an army against Badrang. When they finally meet again an attack is made on the palace, a battle between free creatures and a Tyrant. During the battle, the rest of the slaves are freed ands they, too, join the fight against their former captor. In the end, at the very end of the battle, a trajic and unexpected thing happens, which changes Martin forever. Throughout the story, though, tiny hints have been dropped about this unfortunate occurence. If you want to laugh, cry, and be held in suspense I strongly reccomend this touching book. In fact, I reccmend all of the Redwall books beacause each is special in its own way.

I have read this book six times, and found it to be my favorite Redwall book. It tells the story of Martin beore he was a legend, before he was the spirit of the abbey.

Badrang was Lord and Tyrant of the Eastern Coasts. One of his slaves was Martin. Martin defied Badrang and was tied up on the roof of Fortress Marshank. During the storm at night, Rose and Grumm see Martin up on the roof. They are a mouse and mole from Noonvale to find Rose's brother Brome who is somewhere inside the fortress. In the morning, Rose and Grumm use slingstones to drive away the hungry seabirds intent on eating Martin.

Martin did not die like he was supposed to so Badrang puts hin in the prison pit where Felldoh and Brome are. They escape and get split up while at sea for a while. Brome and Felldoh wash up near Marshank and Rose, Martin and Grumm end up by the Pygmy shrews' caves. There they meet Pallum. Pallum, Rose, Grumm and Martin go on a quest to Noonvale, Rose's home, for an army to rid the land of Badrang. Brome and Felldoh stay with the Rambling Rosehip players.

The ending is the tragic battle of Marshank. Read the book to see if Martin wins!

I read a real good book called Salamandastron, by Brian Jacques. It is a fantasy book about woodland creatures that fight wars with vermin like rats, weasels, stoats, etc......... This particular book is about the evil Ferrahgo the Assassin-an unmerciful ferret warlord that wants to take over the mountain fortress Salamanstron. But, Urthstripe the Strong has other plans.Mean while at Redwall Abbey, place of peace, the sword of their mighty hero has been stolen by two stoats that brought a disease and killed a man.See how they cure the sickness,recover the sword, and if Urthstripe can defeat Ferrahgo and the vermin in the action packed fantasy book, Salamandastron.

This is the third book that I have read in this series. I found it very interesting and would recomend it to everyone. It is about The Fire Mountain, Salamandastron and the ruling badger, Lord Earthstripe. His badger maid (Mara) runs away and makes friends with Klitch a weasel. Klitch's Father (Ferhargo) has told him to do this so that they can enter the mountain and take over. Ferhargo is the leader of a band of evil vermin. Mara runs away from them after discovering thier evil plot. Meanwhile at Redwall Abbey a lightening bolt strikes the weathervane and reveals the legendary sword of Martin the Warrior. Matthais finds it and sets out on an adventure. He meets up with Mara and decides to help her. They come across a couple of shrew armies that are willing to help for a price. He has to retrive their black stone. Along the way he finds a great white badger that has the stone he gives it back and comes along because Urthstripe is his long lost brother.
Will they make it in time to save Urthstripe and Salamandastron? to find out read this exciting novel.

Like most of Jacques's books, you'll always find something new to read everyday. Around every corner is a new adventure and a new twist that hardly entered your mind before. You once again meet the same old friendly moles and their funny speech, brave creatures and you learn more about the rulers of the Mountain of the Fire Lizards, the Badger Lords!

True friendship and love shines through all obstilcals. once again you wonder just how Brain Jacques thinks up of all of these juicy books. the pick em up, never put em down book is back and this one will really have you pacing on your floor, wondering if she or he will make it through the hard difficulty. again saddness arrives but Joy comes also. Don't miss out on another wild ride of a Redwall Series books! I'm warning you, you'll laugh, you'll cry and you'll have your emotions hangin on by just a thin thread when reading these books. Soon you'll be cheering the battle cry of the wild badgers and hares of Salamandeston, " Eeulaliaaaaaaaaaa!"

here you'll feel as if you are watching them, the silent character in the back who knows what's going on and has the brains to figure it out. Get caught up in Jacques's world of talking animals and and funny characters. Made for all ages. But i think 6th graders and up are more able to read and understand these books better, but hey i started in 4th grade!

The Bellmaker is another wonderful Redwall book. Everything I like in books is in it- action adventure, fighting, and much more.

This book gets you hooked right from the start. Chapter 3 (the chapters are farely short), really gets you wanting to read more, as the prisoners escape from their captured castle, owned by the vicious Foxwolf, the Urgan Nagru. Mariel and Dandin, Redwall warriors adventuring in the south get captured by Foxwolf.

In Redwall Abbey, Joseph the Bellmaker, Mariel's father, has a dream and comes down with four others to save his son. After an amazing escape, the fugitives gather up their puny forces to defeat the mighty hordes of rats and Foxwolf himself.Wan't to know the result's? It'll surprise you, for sure.

Jauques writes a wonderful book, with lovable characters, lots of surprises, exciting actions, plenty of humor, amazing feats, unpredictable outcomes, and lots of adventure, fighting, and everything you could want in a book. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK FOR ANYONE.

Amazing! This book was even better than Redwall and the Outcast of Redwall! It has everything you could expect from a Redwall novel: Evil, Action, Adventure, Humor, and Mouthwatering Food. The plot is as follows: Mariel and Dandin, along with a new friend called Major Meldrums, are in serious trouble. They were caught while resisting the evil Foxwolf, Urgan Nagru, his mate Silvamord, and their hordes. So, when Martin the Warrior visits Joseph, Mariel's father, in a dream, and tells him to help Mariel along with four other Redwallers, Joseph sets out immediately. The Redwall Rescue Team makes a new friend in Finnbar, a sea otter, who steals his old ship back from searats. They journey to Southsward, the beautiful land that Foxwolf has taken over. There they encounter toads, warrior hedgehogs, and (gasp) Foxwolf. Can they save Mariel, Dandin, and Meldrums in time? Read the book to find out. I recommend this book to Redwall readers, fantasy readers, and just plain readers.

The Bellmaker is a very exciting book to read. It starts off with the Foxwolf's clan of 300 armed vermin, sailing southward to to capture the Castle of Gael the Squirrel King. After that, it goes into the Bellmaker's dream that his daughter, Mariel was in great danger. So he sets out like Martin the Warrior tells him to, but also, Martin said that "four will ride the Roaringburn, but only for e'er out of five will return." So does that mean that one of the five will die in battle with the Foxwolf? Read it and find out!
I liked the battle which was when everybody swarmed toward the castle that Foxwolf took over, and everybody from the castle swarmed and they fought. Only Joseph the Bellmaker, Meldrum, Dandin, and others, went in the castle to save Rab, Mariel, and Muta.They ended up fighting Foxwolf's highest executive, Silvamord, and her horde. Arrows flew with javelins, lances, and spears at the battle field. It was a wild dance of death, which made it very cool and exciting, and nobody in the southward army cared if the lived, so everybody had bloodwrath in them which made them diffcult to defeat them. That was what I liked about the book.
What I didn't like was when Gael kept in the Foxwolf for hospitilaty. Instead, Foxwolf took over and put his family in the dungeon. That's just sad, when I read that, it was very painful. Later, I got mad at the squirrel king, he was a very foolish mule. I wouldn't have done that, if were him I would let the Foxwolf stay outside and starve. That was what I didn't like about the book.

A darling book about a little one and some misbehaving due to excitement. Lilly want to share so badly that she is very disruptive to her class. Mr. Slinger, the teacher is patient at first but soon takes action to stop Lilly's behavior. The teacher Lilly once loved becomes a monster she really doesn't like any longer. She even writes him a nasty note. Lilly soon finds out that Mr. Slinger is still her hero. I won't spoil the ending! This is a great read for the first day of school. Students can connect to Lilly. They understand her need for attention and I am sure most students have misbehaved to get that attention. This will start a good discussion about what Lilly could of done instead of being disruptive, what good behavior looks like, and why teachers sometimes have to take things away from students. Also, after Lilly sneaks the teacher the note and Mr. Slinger gives Lilly the purse back, this is a good time to make predictions about what might happen. Furthermore, how would you students deal with the situation Lilly has gotten herself into with this nasty note she wrote. Lots of teaching possibilities with this book.

This is a book that adults will appreciate as much as children. Pay close attention to all that's happening in the illustrations. You can't help but love Lilly, she means well but like any of us she finds herself in trouble. Mr. Slinger, Lilly's teacher is a hero. This is a must read for all kids. Makes a great gift, look for a purple plastic purse and movie star sunglasses to go a long with it! After reading this book you'll find yourself looking for and falling in love with all of Kevin Henkes' books! Wow! That is all I can say. Wow!

Kevin Henkes spins a wonderful tale that appeals to many age groups with the fun story of Lilly and her new purse. Lilly loves her teacher and school, but her normally attentive nature is put to the test when she brings her new purse and accessories to class one day. Woven with lessons about the importance of patience, listening, and responsibility, the story is accompanied by colorful and simple illustrations depicting the young mouse Lilly and other characters in ordinary classroom situations every child can relate to. Your children will love reading this with you; you'll have to read every delightful caption. Something in the story will make adults laugh every time they read it too. Very well rounded and enjoyable work.

Mrs. Frisby, a widowed mouse with four children. Unfortunally, one is ill with a serious case of pneumonia. The family lives beneath a garden that is soon to be harvested and must be moved immediately or will face death. Timothy, the child with pneumonia and must not be moved. As time goes on she hears about the rats of Nimh. These weren't any ordinary rats but ones with an extraordinary breed of high indigents. Soon she finds herself flying on the back of a crow and placing sleeping powder into a cat's dinner dish.

This was and exceptional book for all ages. This book is full of adventure and amusing humor. If you enjoy animal characters, this is a great book for you. I am now in High School and I think that this book is very exciting and will kept you motivated to read more. I really enjoyed the part where Mrs. Frisby slips a sleeping powder into the cats' dinner plate because you never know what is going to happen until it does. The part that really caught me off guard was when the author brought to conclusion what every thing looked like. He was very descriptive, for example" he was stocky, square and muscular, with bright, hard eyes. He looked efficient." This story is told in a third person perspective. I like it.
I would strongly recommend this to any reader that enjoys adventure and relationships that grow between the characters. This book has many positive out comes on life.

Mrs. Frisby, a widowed field mouse, is forced to take on a big adventure when her youngest son Timothy gets ill. Timothy's illness comes just before spring, and with spring comes moving day. Mrs. Frisby is forced to seek help, leading her to the all but ordinary Rats of NIMH. This fictional adventure is perfect for capturing the attention of any reader nine years of age or older. Although the story is written from the view of fictional farm animals the reader is pulled into the suspenseful plot and is easily drawn into the emotions of each character. Not only is the book enjoyable to read, it is good for the classroom teacher. It conveys lessons on qualities like friendship, bravery, and teamwork. These qualities let the book easily be integrated into the classroom. I recommend "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH" to anyone who would enjoy a fun and rewarding text.

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH is one of the best books that I have ever read. It has now sold over 1 million copies as well as being extremley well regared by the critics. Why is this book so good? Well for starters, it has a perfect no holes plot with intelligent writing and believable characters. The book is also very imaginitive and suspensful. When I first read it in grade 3 I thought it was a great story and that was it. However now that I am older (17) I can tell it has much more depth. The author had a view that we should respect the environment and be hardworking, so he gave the Rats that quality. He also believed in interdependance; helping one another. For example, Mrs. Frisby helps the crow and then he helps her in return. Without the aid of several characters in this novel, Mrs. Frisby would never have been able to solve her dilema. And of course I love that line from Jenner, "people are our cows." I highly reccomend this Newbery Medal award winning book

Those readers who love intricate fantasy worlds and complicatedplots, with rollicking good action, will enjoy this and any of theseveral "Redwall" books by Brian Jacques. To describe the main storyline sounds almost silly. Mice and other woodland creatures living in an abbey must protect themselves from the evil creatures, usually weasels and ferrets, who would take over their riches. The characters are richly drawn, and the action is at times intense. Sometimes a character dies, sometimes a character allows the bent for revenge to transform them into less than good--just like in real life.

Brian Jacques creates intricate plots and subplots, but always keeps the main action moving forward. He delights readers with his dialects and language variants of some of the creatures, most noteably the moles and sparrows. The peculiar speech of these characters is a challenge to anyone who reads this aloud, but my kids, who are now 10 and 14, can't get enough of these books for family reading time. If you haven't discovered the world of Redwall, it's time you did!

Hi I'm 14 years old actually but I couldn't use the adult form. I wanted to tell everyone under 13 to read this book. It has action, adventure, horror(well maybe not horror)comedy and love. It's a beautiful story and I urge you to read it. I personaly love Matthias. He kind of has the same attitude like me. Always standing up for waht you believe in. Matthias, Cornflower, Constance and Basil Stag Hare are my favorite characters. They're funny, entertaining and its easy just to fall right into their world with them as the "stars" of the book. Mr. Brian Jacques is a magnificent author. I think that his book, Redwall, beat Harry Potter 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 7, and 5,6, and 7 aren't even out yet. When I read this book for the first time at the end it brought a tear to my eye when. . . Well if you want to know why it brought a tear to my eye, Read This Book! Then try reading all 14!!

This book is the first volume in a long series of books which I consider to be the best series I've ever read. It centers around the adventures of a clumsy, unsure young mouse called Matthias. He is forced to grow up abruptly with the arrival of Cluny the Scourge, a rat warlord who commands vast armies of murderous rats, ferrets, stoats, and weasels. Cluny's aim is to conquer the immense Redwall Abbey, which is Matthias's home. However, the Abbey's inhabitants are peaceful creatures, most of whom have never handled a weapon in their lives. The Abbey dwellers manage to keep Cluny at bay, but their skills are too poor to ward him off for too long. Meanwhile, Matthias has gone in search of a legendary sword that once belonged to the famous mouse warrior, Martin. He hopes to use the weapon to defeat Cluny's infamous army and save Redwall. Helped by different friends along the way, he finally discovers the sword's location, but is unprepared for the grave danger he stumbles across while searching for the sword... This book introduces the reader to Redwall, one of the best children's book series ever written. I recommend the book (and the rest of the series) strongly if one is looking for a creative plot with many twists.
